Coming home to Springleaf feels like stepping out of the city and into the trees. The train pulls into Springleaf MRT, you walk out beside your own building, and within a few steps the hum of Upper Thomson Road gives way to birdsong from the forest around the estate. The pace here belongs to the neighbourhood, slow, green and friendly, and it settles over you by the time you reach the lift.
The neighbourhood keeps its best things close. Springleaf Prata Place is a few minutes on foot, the shophouse row across the road handles coffee and a quick dinner, and the childcare centre and shops downstairs take care of the rest of the daily list. For a bigger shop, Lentor is one stop away by train. Sembawang Hills Food Centre is about 8 minutes by car, Causeway Point about 14, Thomson Plaza about 15 along Upper Thomson Road and Northpoint City about 16, so every kind of weekend errand is a short drive from home.
Getting around is straightforward. The Thomson-East Coast Line runs right through the station beside you, to Woodlands in about 8 minutes, Orchard in about 25 and Shenton Way in about 35, all on one line. Drivers have easy access to the Seletar Expressway, and Changi Airport is about 20 minutes away by car, which makes the long-weekend getaway feel a lot closer.
More is growing along the corridor around you. Woodlands Regional Centre, two stops up the line, is filling out as the north's main hub for jobs and shopping, and Bishan, further south, is planned as a sub-regional centre under the Master Plan 2025. The green around you, meanwhile, is planned to stay that way. Springleaf Nature Park is part of the Central Nature Park Network, a new Nee Soon Nature Park is proposed within Springleaf Forest, and the site itself comes with bird-safe design requirements written into its plans. Upper Seletar Reservoir Park and Thomson Nature Park are nearby, and the waters of Lower Seletar Reservoir lie further east for the longer ride, so the forest stays part of your daily routine for years to come.
Put together, it is a home that lets you turn over a new leaf without giving up anything you love about the north. You wake up under the trees, walk to breakfast, drop the little one off downstairs and catch the train beside home, and the city stays within reach all the while.
